Top 50 Psycho Movies of All Time

While there are several genres of movies and every other has a phase. As far as the best psycho-thriller movies in Hollywood are concerned, what makes them different from regular thriller movies is what it has to do with the brain. There are several psycho-thriller movies made in history, but what makes everyone different is the rate at which it plays with our brain and mind.

The greatest and top 10 psycho-thriller movies play with elements like elemental fears, trauma, illusions, mind play, and delusions to send these goosebumps t=racing up the viewer's arms. Taking all of that into consideration here are certain best psycho-horror movies, while some are tense and twisty some are much more meditative but all of them have equal capability to leave you feeling dizzy.

  1. Les Diaboliques (1955)

On the top of my list for top psycho movies would be this, with the perfect plot of a creepy boarding school, a monstrous headmaster, his white fed-up wife, and another disgruntled lover all clubbed into one perfect shot. A simple plot of the headmaster being teamed up with the timid spouse for a vengeful murder scheme of the common enemy. This blend of acts and shots formulates the truly scary best psycho-killer movies.

  1. The Shining

Coming under the top 10 psycho-thriller movies is shining.  Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King's legendary novel is truly terrifying. This movie is a masterpiece depicting the terrifying journey o a decent man into insanity.

  1. Get Out

Another masterpiece among the top psycho movies is to get out. This has the elements of thriller, suspense, and horror all clubbed together. 1. Shutter Island

Just a casual psycho-thriller movie featuring our top actor, Leonardo DiCaprio heading into an insane asylum on an island where the murderer has recently escaped. While this movie might feel like a regular casual movie, the ending would blow your mind and you will be utterly terrified and clueless.

  1. The Butterfly Effect

Another great one in the top 10 psycho-thriller movies, starring Ashton Kutcher and his ability to time travel into the memories of his extremely traumatic past with a view of changing the future while slowly losing his mind, and then boom, everything is a mess. Watch more to clear this mess up.

  1. The Silence of the Lambs

While many critics would be of the notion that a movie about a cannibal who spends his day eating people would fall more into the gore category but this is another top psycho movie that is all about the dark mind of Hannibal Lecter man and what goes into his mind while just enjoying the human flesh.

  1. The Girl on the Train

This movie is among the best psycho movies in Hollywood depicting the whole story from a narrator’s view whereby the main character is unable to trust her own memory which might sound like a problem when people around you tend to go missing and you end up soaked in blood. Watch more to uncover this unreliable yet amazing narrator.

  1. Fight Club

Another one in this list is among the best psycho-thriller movies, and the reason it is clubbed as a psycho-thriller would mean an absolute ruining of the entire plot which I guess is the last thing reader would ever want. So, leaving it over to you to learn the rest with a rule, the first rule of fight club, is that you do not talk to anyone about the fight club. Scary yet thrilling, isn’t it?

  1. The Sixth Sense

It might be a bit weird to list down a Ghost movie in a psycho-thriller movies list, where the little kid sees dead people but the plot twist is the reason it is added here, so grab your box of popcorn and sit back to enjoy this mixture of horror aane thriller all in one.

  1. Inception

Another masterpiece in this set of best psycho-thriller movies staring our very own Leonardo DiCaprio as a thief who can basically enter people’s dreams and steal elements of their subconsciousness. Gaslight is about a woman whose husband manipulates her into thinking that she is going insane. This title is a reference to one particular moment in this film where she sees flickering gaslights and her husband convinces her that she imagined them. Now what’s the trust and what is his husband basically trying to hide in the movie?

  1. Vertigo

This is Hitchcock at his best. This movie is basically based on the story of a man who suffers from vertigo and features all the usual tropes of the genre. The whole list of false identities, sanatoriums, and some other not-so-casual madness. But among these, the best part of Vertigo is the dreamy 1950s northern California setting that makes it all worth a watch, obviously other than the whole Hitchcock fandom.

  1. Rebecca

Another masterpiece in the list of psycho-thriller movies, another one for the Hitchcock fandom. This movie won the Academy Awards for best picture and it is so worth it. The whole plot is based on the horror aspect of how the haunted memory of a dude’s first wife lowkey haunts his new wife. Need not to mention a Hitchcock movie, it ought to be thrilling and wild.

  1. Memento

A thriller playing with colors. This basically is a story of a guy who is suffering from short-term memory loss which in itself is sad to digest, alongside having the whole burden of trying to figure out his wife’s murderer with his short-term memory loss problem. This whole movie is both black and white as well as colorful signifying two different phases of this man’s life which finally syncs up at the end which makes it an absolutely genius storyline and direction.

Another masterpiece whereby an aging child actress holds her wheelchair-bound sister hostage in a. old Hollywood mansion and not only this but the juiciest part is the insane beef between two rivals Bette and Joan Crawford in this movie Bats.

  1. Fatal Attraction

As glean close stars in this controversial thriller about a stalking ex-mistress that kicked off a whole slew of female thrillers. While fatal attraction might not get made today because of the whole discussions about mental health and misogyny but it’ll still put the blinkers on any extramarital affair they might be planning. An amazing movie about a woman who becomes obsessed with a married man and has an affair, the acting, the direction, and everything, are just perfect.

  1. Black Swan

Another one on the list of top psycho-thriller movies, the plot revolves around a software billionaire who shows up on a trip ending up knowing his property is being robbed. This film begins with a comedic start but ultimately becomes much more intense as the thief tends to become restless and the storyline goes the other way. A classic subtext of class disparity and economic abandonment within the story. This a classic example of a home invasion thriller.

  1. The Menu

This very recent release will Tracy and Seth Reiss who travel to a remote island to eat at an exclusive luxurious restaurant where the chef has prepared a lavish menu with some shocking and thrilling surprises. This movie plays with the idea of obsession.
